As Missouri's Rural Small Businesses Fall Behind on AI, Codefi Launches a Statewide Training Series to Close the Gap

Four no-cost virtual sessions, delivered by Codefi and sponsored by the Show-Me Network, put practical AI skills directly in front of small business owners in every corner of the state

Cape Girardeau, MO — Rural small businesses are adopting AI at a rate seven points behind their urban counterparts, according to 2025 U.S. Census Bureau data — a gap that leaves owners outside Missouri's metro areas competing against businesses that have already automated their marketing, admin, and customer response. Codefi is closing that gap with a four-session AI Training Series running every second Tuesday from August through November 2026, with the exception of the November session, held Thursday, November 19.

The series is delivered by Codefi and sponsored by the Show-Me Network, making it available at no cost to any small business owner in Missouri, regardless of technical background. Sessions run virtual, 12–1PM, one practical skill per session with a live demo — no software to buy, no upsell at the end.

“Most AI training for small businesses is either too basic to matter or built for people who already have a technical team. This series is neither. Four sessions, one skill each, no fluff — write your marketing, clear your inbox, get ready for the holidays. If you can open a laptop, you can use this.” — James Stapleton, Founder & CEO, Codefi

The Four Sessions

August 11 — AI Made Simple: Your New Free Employee. Breaks down what AI actually is in plain language, then shows small business owners how to write a product description, social post, or promotion idea, and how to give AI good instructions — like training a new hire.

September 8 — Never Stare at a Blank Page Again: AI for Your Marketing. Focused on the marketing tasks small businesses struggle with most: generating a week of social content in 15 minutes, writing an email blast for a sale, and training AI to write in the business's own voice.

October 13 — Get 5 Hours Back: AI for the Tasks You Don't Enjoy Doing. Targets the administrative grind — routine emails, job postings, employee schedules, and responding to online reviews — showing owners how to hand off the tasks that eat up their day.

November 19 (Thursday) — Holiday Hustle: Let AI Help You Survive Your Busiest Season. Timed for the holiday rush, covering gift guides, Small Business Saturday promotions, flash sales, batch-scheduled social posts, and holiday staffing and hours communications.

Why This Is Different

Most AI training aimed at small businesses is either too generic to apply directly to a real business, or built by vendors selling a product at the end of the pitch. Codefi's series is neither:

  • No product to buy. The series is sponsored by the Show-Me Network, not a software company. There's no tool to purchase and no upsell at the end.

  • Taught by people who build AI products, not just present on them. Codefi runs Traction Studio AI and Dev Studio — the team teaching these sessions ships AI-powered products for a living.

  • Built for the counties most training skips. The Show-Me Network exists to reach small business owners outside Missouri's metro centers, where AI training is hardest to access and the adoption gap is widest.

  • Backed by a decade of track record. Since 2014, Codefi has supported 60+ startups, trained 600+ individuals, and generated $100M+ in economic impact across 47+ Missouri counties.
